Hi, my name is Ivy Shaw and I’ve been an English teacher for 4 years, both online and in-person. I’m passionate about helping students improve their language skills by making lessons engaging and practical. Whether it’s through reading, writing, speaking, or listening, I focus on real-world applications of English that my students can use in their everyday lives. I believe in creating a supportive learning environment where everyone feels comfortable to ask questions and make mistakes. I pride myself on providing clear feedback and adapting my teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each student.
I am a patient and supportive English teacher who focuses on providing consistent feedback to help my students improve. I emphasize the practical use of language, ensuring that my lessons are not only informative but also relevant to real-life situations. I adapt my teaching style to meet the needs of each student, making sure everyone feels comfortable and confident in their learning journey. By breaking down complex concepts into simple steps, I aim to make learning enjoyable and effective, fostering an environment where students can grow at their own pace.
- Lessons are carefully planned based on each student’s goals and adjusted as they make progress.
- After every class, I give feedback to help them improve.
- I always try to explain difficult ideas in simple steps and focus on using language in practical, real-life situations.
- Correcting students in a way that teaches, not discourages.
hobby:In my free time, I enjoy reading books and learning languages like Spanish and Italian to broaden my understanding. Traveling and exploring different cultures also inspire me. Painting allows me to relax and stay creative, while playing volleyball keeps me active and reminds me of the importance of teamwork—something I bring into my teaching as well.
Like Books:I grew up on Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but later fell in love with classics like Kafka’s Metamorphosis and Dostoevsky’s The Double.
Like sports:In high school, I was a cheerleader and gymnast, and in university, I played volleyball, which I still enjoy with my friends to this day. I also love jogging and ice skating whenever I get the chance.

Hi, Ivy. I'll ask him to practice these words more, make sentences using "These" and "Those", and apply them in daily life. Recently, we've been preparing for the final exams, so there might not be enough time for practice. But I'll have him make up for it later. He received an award in today's English class at school. I wanted to share this news with you. I believe this is the result of his consistent learning with you, and it also affirms your teaching. Thank you very much. We'll keep working hard!

外教:ivyshaw 回复:
Wow, that’s amazing! Congratulations to him for receiving the award in his English class!

That's awesome! We're starting to learn a new book again. Your summary is very detailed and easy to understand. I'll ask him to practice writing these words. Keep up the good work. I'll keep learning with you! See you tomorrow!

外教:ivyshaw 回复:
Remember, language learning is not just about memorizing words or grammar; it's about how we use it to express ourselves. To truly improve, it should become a routine for him to describe things in English and share how he feels (whether it's good, fine, sad, or happy). This active use of language in daily situations will help him reach fluency more naturally. :)

Thank you for your kind words! She is an excellent student who always strives to express herself in the best way possible. She would benefit from gaining a clearer understanding of when and how to use present, past, and future tenses. :)
